Yamapi starts his idol life when he was 12. He was so inspired by Hideaki Takkizawa, so he asked his mother to apply to Johny’s entertainment. He has the look, right? So he was accepted and become Johny’s Junior.

As a junior, he worked behind the famous idol. He was stage dancer for Kinki Kids.

At 2003, NEWS was formed from 8 cute boys, and Pi is chosen to be leader. After a shameful affair, Kusano Hironori and Hiroki Uchi were disbanded and leave Pi with Ryo Nishikido, Yuya Tegoshi, Shigeaki Kato, Massuda, and Keichi Koyama.

His stardom rose so fast when he starts appearing in many doramas. My favorite one is Nobuta wo Produce. I personally think that every one who watches this would love Yamapi. He playes Akira Kusano, a rebellious kid who choose to live in modest way, even though his father is wealthy. He’s so funny.

But, what makes him so popular is when he started being the Lead Role. It’s in Kurosagi. The story is based on manga with the same title. Kurosagi (クロサギ) stands for Kuro (Black) and Sagi (Swindler). He’s is the one who swindle the swindlers.

During NEWS をあばけ(Let’s Expose NEWS), Yamapi shows his famous tag from Proposal Daisakusen Dorama, “Halleluya Chance!!” it’s so funny. He was awarded as the Best Actor for that one.
